Draught at the brewery, 2/4/17.
Dark, ruddy, chestnut-mahogany with darker brown hues, a high clarity and a medium-sized, beige head atop showing moderate to moderately-low retention.
Huge waves of alcohol in the nose mix with melanoidins to add a very estery, fruity, sharp character to the nose. Some breadiness and light caramel behind it adds a bit more malt depth but it’s fairly fatiguing after just a few sniffs on account of all this booze.
The flavor is just viciously alcoholic, sharp, hot, you name it. It cuts through any body the malt attempts to provide with caramel, brown sugar and heavy bread lingering as well as melanoidin-like fruitiness. Sluggish texture with low, rather loose carbonation.
