Draught at the brewery, 10/21/16.
Deep, copper-bronze shows a strong haziness and a white head atop with good retention.
Various grains in the nose provide notes of pretzel, sourdough, biscuit and fruity notes of cherries, apples and strawberries. Low on the esters here from the yeast, and the hops are quite well-done, with plentiful lemon and orange rind character mixing with light grapefruit and pineapple. No alcohol or flaws.
In the mouth, as with their other beers, it’s incredibly dry with a slightly grainy, hard feel to it. Bitterness, though not heavy in their beers, is perceived to be much higher due to the relative lack of malt for balance. Various spicy and fruity grain notes abound, with moderate citrus and further fruity notes from the hops. No alcohol or flaw, just get some more maltiness in your beers!
