Draught at the brewery, 8/17/16.
Burnished copper mixes in with lighter shades of gold in this lightly hazy beer. White head atop is medium-sized and shows moderately-strong retention.
I’ve really been enjoying comet hops and this one in no different. A bit more citrus than the other two hoppy beers I had here, adding grapefruit and pine and a strong, zesty/spicy, dry pineapple note from the el dorado. Malts are a little more sparse, allowing the hops to really go to work, adding light cracker and dry grain. No alcohol or flaw, a bit of resin.
Quite assertive in flavor, the juiciness is met with strong citrus and a healthy acidity. Some pine-like qualities build up on the palate, but there’s ample malt to help cut it, adding a gentle softness and very minor sweetness. No alcohol, as in the aroma, a bit more resin than I’d prefer, but certainly nothing problematic.
