Notch’s Cask only series celebrates the roots of session beer, and first up in the series is Notch Dark Mild. While the British Mild has evolved over the centuries, it was the session beer of choice for the 20th century British coal miner. Notch’s Dark Mild pays homage to this worker’s beer – a very dark ruby brown appearance, malty and fruity aroma, a caramel maltiness with very low hop bitterness, and only 3.7% ABV.

Cask at the brewery, 1/13/18.
Off-white head fades steadily to cover. Clear mahogany showing a good condition overall.
Smells very fruity and sweet with light chocolate, caramel and honey showing a varied malt profile. Very soft and even and quite clean again.
Yet again it's got a great texture, attenuation, carbonation, etc....with lightly roasty tinges and soft caramel and vanilla. Low hop character, light mineral-like yeast and lingering caramel.

Cask. Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Micro head with excellent retention recedes leaving sheet lacing. Dark caramel aromas. Soft and sweet with dark caramel and nutbread from front to back. Mild finish.
