Draught at CBC Boston, 9/23/17.
Moderately hazy, deep beeswax-maize-golden with a small but fairly well-retained white head atop.
Nose is full of some of the less enjoyable Mosaic qualities: twangy papaya, heavy scallion, pine, stark white grapefruit skin. Malt arrives to attempt to balance but really just adds bread, biscuit and doesn't particularly soften or contribute anything pleasant. Somewhat sharp on the end, with alcohol and/or other strong esters coming through.
Possibly even worse in flavor. The texture is pretty much there, with some maltiness and good carbonation, though it tends to the somewhat undermalted, thin, husky side. The Mosaic and whatever the base hops here are just as bad as the original, with messy esters, sharp resin and alcohol ruining the beer. No softness/juiciness and just too much burning hot pith.
