Bottled 6/15/17, drunk 8/5/17.
Clear, deep ruby-amber colored, leaving plentiful sediment behind. Small but rich, dense, off-white head is formed showing strong retention.
The nose is a lovely bouquet of red fruits, soft citrus and juicy yellow fruits (nectarine, peach, apricot). No sign of resin, though at two months old, I wouldn't expect any. Doesn't have the usual grapefruit/pine signature that most MBC beers have, so that's certainly refreshing. Some spicy, bready, grainy malt behind it all adds to the complexity but neither detracts nor dominates from the hops and light honey-caramel character that the base malt provides in concert with the specialty malts. No flaw or alcohol.
Fruity, soft, almost velvety in the mouth with a supple malt texture, tight carbonation and perfect attenuation still leaving just enough sweet malt in its wake to easily balance the fruity, light-hearted, red and yellow fruit character of the hops. Some spiciness, orange peel/orange marmalade character on the finish with gentle honey, light brown bread and no sign of aggressiveness. Was worried that this would be old, tired and overly malty after two months, but quite the opposite; it seems to be perfect with tons of juicy hop flavor and no trace of resin/green/young hop (if there ever was any to begin with).
