375mL bottle drunk 7/21/17.
Not sure how long this sat on the shelf warm (not all that long, not more than 30 days) but it popped with an almost inaudible hiss...The pour showed a slightly rusty, golden with an amber tint, good clarity and rapidly fleeting, off-white head.
Cardboard and even a touch of bread, meat and veggie show through strongly in the nose. Peppery phenolics try but fail to balance and it's quite apparent that something has gone wrong here.
Loose, watery, undercarbonated and extremely cardboardy-bready, probably the seal on the cork was no good. This is already quite oxidized leading to a sluggish, sweet, almost syrupy, vanilla-honey-like texture. Some banana, white pepper and clove remain on the finish, but it does little to counteract the oxidation. Will have to try another bottle soon.
