When we first met Nat Rogers from Roger’s Farmstead in Berlin, VT we knew immediately that we wanted to work with him. Not only does Nate raise milking cows but he also grows a variety of malts that include both wheat and oats. We brewed this farmhouse-style ale with a large portion of raw wheat as well as an entire bale of heirloom grass hay from Roger’s Farmstead. It was hopped with VT grown Newport hops and fermented with our house Belgian yeast. We then conditioned the beer for 6 months in a Chardonnay barrel. It has notes of white pepper, nectarines, white wine spritzers, funk and earth.

Huge amounts of carbonation leads to gushing and produces a hazy, beige-earthy-amber body. Large butter-colored head shows great retention.
Amazing tropical fruit in the nose shows a wonderful Brett expression that has blended seamlessly with the wine. Cereal, brass, guava, strawberry and chardonnay all enter the mix and produce a bright, spicy-at-times character. No big toasted oak notes and the malt seems nicely attenuated, while the Brett, though obviously hard at work, does not come off messy/soapy/bready.
Excellent body with a firm malt presence despite the strong wild yeast presence. Cereal grains provide both texture and interesting flavor with just a hint of sourness to balance the earthy, sweet maltiness. Lingering melon, white grape, strawberry-lime...unique and incredibly good.
