Rider Die is a hazy, Double IPA built of rich malted barley, chit malt, wheat and oats. We hopped this guy with a hefty of dose of Citra, Eureka and CTZ hops for blasts of candied orange, rind, stone fruit and just enough piney bitterness. Rider Die is the perfect use of old-school hops in a new-school package. Hazy, aromatic and simply delicious. This is our Ride or Die.

Canned 4/22/22, drunk 5/10/22. Bright marigold-maize with a small, white head showing moderately-low retention. Moderately-to-heavily hazy. Soft and fruity-sweet hop-yeast combo with notes of melon, orange sherbet and strong mango. Estery but clean with no obnoxious bubble gum and no resin or alcohol noted. Crusty bread-like malts help balance the soft, juicy hop notes and mega-fruity yeast. There's some alcohol pervasive throughout the beer, unfortunately, crowding out the brightness and exacerbating what piney bitterness there is here from the CTZ. Still, the wheat and oats do keep it on the soft side and the attenuation is good. Some punchy resin does linger on the finish, especially with warming. Don't love the use of CTZ here (or anywhere, really) and I'm not a fan of eureka, which I don't think does anything but add punchy peach and piggyback on the overly acidic CTZ. Tough to really say much about a brewer who is contracting out their production, as so much of the final product represents Castle Island's system. But I'm willing to follow this guy and see where the journey goes.
