This new series of hybrid IPAs is an ode to establishing uniquely interconnected, yet sometimes challenging relationships with our woodland neighbors at the farm in North Stonington, Conn. Life on the farm depends on coexisting with creatures who provide essential benefits, despite the nuisance they sometimes seem to cause. Just as farmers and gardeners harmoniously combine two seemingly incompatible ideas, our brewers bring together components from these two distinctive IPA styles for the creation of something novel and exciting.
Wayward Woodchuck highlights a medley of Simcoe, Strata, and Citra hops. Sunflower gold in appearance with minimal haze, an aromatic blend of bright citrus, dank resin, and vibrant pine is gracefully grounded by a clean malt presence, and soft, grassy bitterness. Dry and incredibly enjoyable.

Can from the Packie enjoyed at home.
Pours a dark yellow color with moderate haze and a bubbly white head that slowly recedes. Juicy dank pine and hints of citrus and earth with a faint bready maltiness to hold it together. Pretty nice.

Pours a lightly hazy, glowing gold-lemon, with smallish head. Aroma is very bready, with some citrus, malt, cracker. Flavors follow, along with some grass/straw, maybe a touch of pine. Mouthfeel is fairly clean and crisp.

Pours a brassy gold-brown from a tap. Nose was a little west coast citrus and pine hop notes, similar flavor. Good beer.

Canton draught, 10/16/22. Clear golden-brass. No head. Fruity nose with ample, white bread like maltiness. Clean, no resin. A little spicier than the first entry in the series thanks to the Chinook and amarillo, but still has that round, soggy, table sugary malt character. Fruity, lightly juicy. Definite improvement over raccoon but still just weird and unfocused. Have had some good West/NE IPA hybrids but this series doesn't do it for me. Too fruity-sweet.
