For Amour Fou, we look to source the most characterful, freshly emptied red wine barrels we can find. This time we truly lucked out with a lot of luscious Napa Cabernet barrels from an acclaimed winery in Oakville. After a year in oak the beer was transferred onto cherries previously used for Avalonia: Cherry for a subtle and nuanced second extraction. Bottled in May 2021, this batch was given an extended period of conditioning and maturation. Once again, Amour Fou seems to gracefully manage a number of intense qualities - the fruit, the oak, the malt-forward base beer and an expressive fermentation all blend together seamlessly while remaining present and noticeable throughout.

375mL bottled March 2021, drunk 6/24/22. Bright cherry red with deep violet notes. Big, off-white head showing moderate retention. Intense cherry and lightly mineralic, chalky red wine with touches of dry caramel and rustic grain. Juicy, fruity, rustic grainy, chalky wine, big cherry. Good lord, what is going on here??? Soft and malty with a tart finish and a delectable sourness that doesnt overpower. Big cherry, big raisin and mineral. Just fucking phenomenal. Fox Farm can do no wrong.
