Czech Dark results from our continued, iterative focus on lager brewing. Inspired by the centuries-old tradition of lager production in Prague, this fine-tuned recipe features classic lager yeast, a grain bill of Thrall Family Pilsner Malt, Munich 1, Chocolate Malt & Carafa II, plus Saaz and Sterling hops. After extended conditioning in our horizontal tanks, Czech Dark pours an inviting rich brown with a reddish hue. Aromas of toasted whole grain bread crust and a soft touch of roasted malt character hit the nose. These flavors follow on the palate, with a sturdy bitterness and balanced sweetness with a subtle, spicy hop bite. A crisp finish keeps this medium-bodied classic refreshing and smooth to drink.

Pours dark mahogany into an English pint. Mocha head with good retention recedes to coat surface. Dusty chocolate and espresso aromas. Dry with sweet dark chocolate covered caramel upfront turning to mocha and espresso in the dry lasting finish. Nice.

Pours a nice rich dark brown from a can. Rich minerally malt aroma. Roasted malt flavor, dark toast, nicely dry. Pretty good beer.

Canton Lukr draught, 2/17/23. Dark, probably clear, large beige head, well-retained. Tons of earthy, mineral-rich yeast/water with soft cola and licorice suggestions bit more prominent honey and brown sugar notes from the base malt. Low but refreshing herbal hops. Clean, no alcohol. Malty, soft, nutty and lightly sweet with hints of milk chocolate and licorice but moreso honey and a healthy dose of moderately bitter, freshly herbal hops. Lingering mineral, toast, cacao and balancing hop.
