Cascade and Columbus Hops present fresh pine and citrus characteristics, combined with the coffee and liquorice tones from our blend of roasted malts. For us, it’s all the things a Black IPA should be.

Bottle from Systembolaget, e-order in March 2015. Black with a tan head. Aroma of grapefruit, pineapple, licorice, roasted malt and resin. Similar taste. The finish was dry and bitter. A potent Black IPA.

Here comes a happy rating. Because this was spot on for my likings. Solid perfect Black IPA. Smooth balanced and tasty like a little horny devil. Complex and rich aroma and flavor. Nothing to dominant. Solid lasting beige head on top of a black body. Grapefruit hoppy, some pine, balanced coffee, some chocolate, mild roasted and a fine tropical fruity back. I want more!

Keg at BD CJ. It pours near black with a decent tan head. The nose is bitter-sweet, juicy roast, pine, earth, treacle and orange citrus. The taste is pretty bitter upfront, roasty, earth, ash, peppery spice, pine, orange rind, light soap and muted sherbet with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Pretty punchy cda action. Rather good all in all.

Bottle from Olsvammel as part of the Euro Local Swap, many thanks! Schwarze Farbe, ordentliche beige Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmalzig, hopfig, schokoladig, Kaffee, bitter. Geschmack nach Kaffee, Vanille, dann stark hopfig, bitter, aber der Kafffe und etwas Vanille dominieren im gesamten Verlauf, gut!

Bottle @ Vinoble Odense. Pours nearly black with a creamy white head and lacings. Hoppy and roasted nose and flavor. Gazoline, berries, citrus, roast and ashy coffee. Hoppy tropical finish. I sense a bit of a baking yeast note - gladfully not enough to spoil the fun.

330ml Bottle - Black with a tan head. Liquorice, roasted malt, hop resins and some soapy notes in the aroma. Hoppy, roasted and slightly soapy taste with notes of liquorice, fudge, coffee and pine. Quite well balanced.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a beige head. Nose is a little greasy, not the freshest hop presence. Medium body, some dark roast and chocolate before a solid dose of hops leaving a bitter finish. Would’ve loved some more aromatic hops here atop the nice malt bill. 031214
