A sceptre is something normally reserved for the likes of royalty, but we all carry a sceptre – something that makes us special. For this India Pale Lager we combine Pilsner, Vienna and Caramalts with a huge whack of hops to make what we call a Special Lager Beer.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.2%. Deep golden colour, large white head. Pleasant aroma of floral and fruity hops. Lagerish mouthfeel. The flavour has a slight sweetness, followed by distinct bittering hops. A decent "India Pale Lager".

330ml bottle: BB 14th Aug 2018. Poured an old Paderborner Goldpilsener flute at home on 30th Apr 2018. Light haze came from the final part of the pour, deep old gold in colour with a white crown. Both the nose and taste are an interesting (for a UK brewed Lager) blend of aromas and flavours. Malty and yet also hoppy in nature, lots to find in this beer. Semi-sweet malty molasses clash with some grass/piney/citrus hops notes to produce a 'very drinkable lager'; not something I say very often.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, amber colour with small, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Grassy-spicy hoppy and spicy malty aroma, a fruity touch of apricot, spicy hints of hay. Taste is minimally sweet, pale and caramel malty, slightly husky, grassy-spicy and minimally fruity hoppy, a touch of apricot, spicy hints of hay. Kellerbier resemblance - very nice.

Barril, media pinta. Next one please!

Keg at Brewdog Kungsholmen, Stockholm. Near black, small head. Licorice, treacle and coffee up front. Comparably dry with solid body and rounded mouthfeel. Licorice and black pepper. Mid bitter finish. Nice!

Keg half @ House of Grain. Pours dark, well appointed foamy off white head. Aroma brings some roast, taste is roast, milk chocolate, dark malts, perhaps lacking nice woody charred elements for a baltic porter but a nice roasty dark ale all the same.

Beaverfest Day 2. Keg. Light haze on this amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and dry, fine minerally carbonation. Clean lagerish malts, fairly dry. Light floralness. Trace of ripe citrus. Dry finish. Ok lager, clean but quite dry.
