Draught at CBC, 6/18/16.
Dark amber with tan hues and some deeper mahogany tints as well. High clarity with a beige head atop that shows moderately-strong retention.
Maple, brown sugar, brown bread, treacle (there actually is treacle in this too!) all give darker, earthier impressions with a great balance of sweet and dry, seemingly. 2015 Hop of the Year Fuggles makes its way in adding herbal and very lightly spicy notes to brighten things. Lots of caramel, honey and treacle linger on the finish which has just a touch of acidity.
Sweet but with a good acidity and bitterness to balance. Tight carbonation and drying considerably on the end while adding layers of toffee, brown bread, biscuits, brown sugar and maple. Pretty relaxed on the hops with moderate bitterness and a bit of spiciness as well. Great balance, incredibly drinkable and satisfying. As you’d epxect, Mystic+Cambridge=Incredible table beer.
