Avalonia: Overture loosely takes its inspiration from Bière de Coupage, a historic method of blending old and young beer – in this case, with 60% of the blend being pulled from various barrel aged mixed culture beers (including elements from our Farmhouse Ale program) and 40% being pulled from a single cask of spontaneously fermented ale from our '19/'20 winter brewing season. Blended for balance and flavor, Overture is infinitely drinkable with minimal thought but can also beckon your attention with notes of stone fruit, citrus pith, hay and a bright clean acidity.

750 mL bottled Dec 2022, drunk 11/25/23. Clear, soft, rose-tinted golden. Small, white head, low retention. Interesting mix of oak, fruity yeast and brett-lacto. Mellow, aromatic, clean, lightly funky with earth and mineral. Soft, malty, well-attenuated with juicy Brett and lacto notes. No edge. Good biscuity, rustic grains and honey-like malt notes as well. Lovely house yeast.
