Each harvest season, we choose various barrels of our Farmstead® ales that exhibit sympathetic characteristics for pairing with local fruit varieties, in this case, organic plums from the 2021 harvest season at Elmore Roots Nursery in nearby Elmore, Vt. Once again, the care and intentionality with which David and his team work with the land translates fully into the fruit’s seasonal expression each year, especially with these varieties of plums. Regardless of the base beer’s composition or blend, the ideal outcome remains the same: a thoughtful representation of the fruit in season and one of our favorite offerings within this collection.

Hazy amber with a medium sized head that left good lacing. Woody, tart and vinegary with a plum note. Long finish. Medium body.

375mL bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Nose is quite complex, revealing plenty of wild yeast, tart plum, and gentle floral notes. Flavour is no less impressive, with plenty of tart plum, acceptable acidity, plenty of wild farmhouse notes, and a touch of hay. Very dry, yet very plum-forward, and the acidity is nicely kept in check. Excellent.

Bottle. Unclear golden color with white head. Aroma is yellow plums, unripe stuff, funky American. Taste is the same, could have more citric American saison funk, but good drinkability. Good stuff!

Bottle thanks to William. Pours a hazy yellow with small white head that lasts. The aroma is plum skin, mineral, funk, wood. Slick body, similar flavors to nose, nice tartness, very good.

375mL bottle drunk 7/23/23. Clear, brass-bronze. White head to ring. Floral, soft, wine-like with light plum skin and delicate acidity. Mineral, graphite, lead, plum. Soft, malty, well-attenuated. Graphite and mineral. Plum skin, plum acidity. Super soft, drinkable, apple-forward and plummy. Clean, crisp, dry, not all that acidic. I bet this needs a about 12-18 months to really homogenize.
