Bottle at C&R Pre-GBBF Tasting 2017. It pours clear rich deep brown with a small white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, candy, treacle, caramel, dried fruits, vague whiff of blended whisky and something slightly artificial. The taste is smooth, toasty, malt – driven, wood, sweet whisky, leather, tanning, toasted (slightly burnt) fruits cake and earth with a drying finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Fairly simple stuff, which doesn’t taste bad but lacks in depth.

The great pre GBBF bottleshare at ChrisO’s. Bright clear amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Sweetish and slightly spicy caramel. Bitterish toffee. Trace of dry malt cream. Mild whiskey soaked fruits. Light dry finish. Much better than I was expecting!

Bottle shared at the chriso and Ruth pre GBBF Tasting, 2017 Saturday edition. Cheers! Pours clear caramel-amber with a light, creamy white head. The nose holds lots of ripe berries, caramel, brown bread. Medium sweet flavour with notes of buttery toffee, ore berries and bread, low bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with more gooey toffee, light earth. Good stuff.
