Taste: Bread Crust, Caramel, Toast
Notes: Our Munich Dark Lager uses 100% Munich malt with a unique mashing process known as an enhanced double decoction. Notes of bread crust,
caramel, and toast with an aroma of toasted dark bread from the Munich malt. Dunkel was the most widely consumed lager in Bavaria previous to pale lager taking over.

Brighton draught, 8/2/24. Clear, raspberry-amber. Medium-sized, beige head, moderately-strong retention. Rich breadiness showing toffee-caramel and such. Strong underlying base malt. No roast. Pushing the lower boundaries of a dunkel, approaching a Polotmavy. Rich malts with a big base malt anchor. Light toffee, big honey, light bread. Balanced clean, refreshing, even. Just a touch of coffee-like character (or root flavor, as GDTRFB suggests) lingering on the very end.

Pours clear deep dark copper into a stein. Tan head with medium retention leaves soapy sheets as it recedes to pancake surface. Dark pit fruit and molasses aromas. Soft and dry with toasted raisin brown bread and caramel upfront turning to earthy bark and molasses in the medium length finish.

Pours deep mahogany into a lager glass. Soapy mocha head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Dark caramel, brown bread and sweet dried pit fruit aromas. Soft with dark caramel, toasted raisin brown bread, and earthy bark front to back. Lasting bitter root finish.

Can on a Friday night. Lovely chestnut colored and a fingers worth of beige head. Nose is nutty and bready. Tastes of dark bread crust, dried fruit, caramel, quite earthy, little rootbeer. Medium bodied. Quite lovely.
