Imperial 'tiramisu' stout by Eindhoven's most familiar brewer, tasted at Gents Bierfestival. Mousy, yellow-beige, opening, medium thick head, black robe with thin mahogany edge. Aroma of mocha ice cream and espresso (or indeed the coffee powder you would find in a tiramisu), cold Irish coffee, cream, toasted brown bread, black chocolate, toasted walnuts, whisky, cookies. Sweet onset, candied fig, very light umami accent, softish carb, supple but full and oily mouthfeel, nutty and black-chocolatey maltiness with a long, bitter, coffeeish roastedness trailing behind - adorned with actual, very aromatic coffee, as in espresso or ristretto. The alcohol provides some whisky-like warmth (rather than amaretto) while hops remain soft. I was expecting a full-fledged sweet and decadent pastry stout considering its premise, but this has way too much roasted bitterness to neatly fit in that category - luckily so, as I still prefer my stouts roasted. The coffee, in added, 'real' form, is however very present here, to the extent that 'imperial coffee stout' probably fits this whole beer better than 'tiramisu stout'.

Bottle on the garden, from DeBierkonig, Amsterdam, 4th July 19. Pours black, nice tan head. Aroma is nice coffee, dark chocolate. Taste is coffee, dark chocolate, sweet, then a dry bitter finish, some liquor, slight heat. Lovely stuff
