2016 vintage, marked as 9.3% ABV. Pours a nearly opaque dark garnet amber with a ring of creamy, tan head. Nose has a lot, cherries and cherry juice, dark chocolate, caramel, tobacco, port. Flavor has lots of caramel, port, wood pulp, light booze, some quince here, lightly herbal now, cherry, chocolate cordials. Finishes full bodied, boozy, lightly sweet, light acid.

Draft pour at Special Brews. Listed as La Mort, but confirmed the brew. Pours a muddy brown color with a big bubble foam head. Rich malt aroma. Strong flavor. Tastes even heavier than it is. Sweet malt and a rye like finish. Dusty. Strange brew, but not bad.

Malt & Vine. Pours clear and ruddy with a slight tan head. Aroma is red berry fruity. Med body at least. Flavor is red berry, wood, The flavors are inticing, but they need to be more firm. As is, it’s an extremely pleast and clean drink.

375mL bottle. The wax job is ridiculous - took a lot of time and effort to get this off. Pours a dark burgundy with a small beige head. Nose brings out candied sugar, red wine barrels, Belgian yeast, and some caramel. Flavour is really well-balanced and quite elegant really, with raisins, brown sugar, toffee, and bready malt, accentuated beautifully by the red wine barrel aging which dries it out nicely. Dry palate, with lots of components. Not the most deep beer, but this is great.
