Tap at the stags head. 3 quarters of their taps were down and this was only tick available but if I wasn’t a ticking loser I could be drinking some delicious Westbrook so my own fault. Pours fine deep reddish Amber. Beige soapy head and nose is caramel and smoke. Tastes of caramel, red fruits, toasted malt, touch medicinal, and smoke. Mouthfeel is as if I ate a chili pepper but none of heat or taste of that makes sense but lingering after effect. Fine palate.

Cloudy lighter colored brown thang. Has a slight friendly candy nose about it - nice. Barely any co2. Bitterness builds thru the session. Co2 goes away. Yes, strong but not as strong as many scotch I’ve had, heheh. From my experience, this is a more acceptable scotch ale than most of those peaty things. Good straight up finish.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours darkly ruddy with a beige head. A little smoke in the aroma. Med body or so. Flavor is a little smoky, fairly malt, and a bit hoppy. Finish isn’t dry, but not over sweet. Smooth drinker.

Keg at Mellow Mushroom Charlottesville. Clear orange, large creamy tan head. Good retention. Aroma of toffee, caramel, spice, mild dark fruit. Taste is stone fruit, toffee, spice, candied citrus. Medium bodied.

On Tap at Bier:Thirty Boise Clear deep chestnut color Thick dense light tan head. Malty toasted brown sugar aroma, more of a sharp woody bite in the flavor. A little booxy heat and a long low lingering bur. A big and bold Scotch

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours murky dark amber with an off-white head. Aroma is malty, sugary, with some burnt flavors in there... not the kind of smoke or fire the name would imply. Taste is a bit on the sweet side, but certainly not as much as other scotch ales out there. This was OK, but nothing special. I kind of felt that it lacked some complexity.
