22oz bottle pours a murky brown with some cloudy, tan head. Nose is very earthy, brown sugar, tree bark, vegetal, some balsamic. Flavor is tart with berries and acid, pomegranate, brown sugar, malt, a bit of couch. Full bodied and tart on the finish.

Bottle at the main DC December gathering. Poured a dark brown color with a light tan head. Aroma was light roasted notes, touch of sour notes. Flavor was chocolate light sour. Strange.

Quite tangy and sour. Brown pour. Citrus and caramelized malt. Like a barley wine. Bottle shared at tasting.

Bomber from Wine & Cheese. Pours a dark copper brown with a tan head. Aroma is bourbon/oak. Treacle notes. Full bodied. Flavor is treacle, bourbon, I think vanilla. Heat is detectable but merges into the flavors. It goes a little earthy in the finish, but the treacle and bourbon ameliorate that. I’m thinking it’s pretty good stuff.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is of the barrel and not much else. It’s still a pleasant bourbon with a little char. Flavor is about the same, the barrel/bourbon pretty much takes over anything the base beer was trying to offer. Still as a bourbon fan this one hit all the right points. A nice bourbon almost burn with a nice vanilla wood smoke.

Draft at the brewery. Bourbon and vanilla dominate with a good dose of caramel and dark fermented fruit. At 10%, the alcohol is very well hidden. I got to try this side by side with the regular big muddy monster. The barrel aging makes a marked improvement.
