On tap at the brewery. Pours dark brown with small beige head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is licorice and cocoa. Slick body, licorice, raisin, cocoa, light dry finish, very good.

12 oz. bottle. Rich, roasty, malty smell as I open the bottle. Solid black beer with a thin, leggy head. Great scharzbier taste. Roasty malt, but with a clean lager finish. I thought there might be a touch of rice in here. But maybe it's just a feeling of a bit of alcohol not tied to a malt source. A bit of a Guinness-type finish.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2018. Pours a clear amber brown with a light chocolate brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma combines grass, bread and dark grains. Flavor has grass up front but is quickly full of bread and dark grains.

Aroma is mainly roasted with dark malts. Long lasting head with lots of lace. Flavor’s fairly dry, similar to nose.and balanced. Very easy drinking.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is an ok dark malt with a little mustiness. Flavor is a decent char roasted malt with a super dry finish. A little more of the roasted malt comes out as this warms. A bit thin but still has that lager hot summer day thirst quenching to it even with the dark malt.

Draft at Olympic tavern. From notes. Malt dominated - earthy and nutty with a hint of caramel and burnt roast. Cool.

Enjoyed on tap at Emporium Arcade Bar in Chicago, IL before my first show in years. Appearance is a dark caramel brown with a thin frothy white head. Aroma is kind of copperish, does have a nice malty aroma though. Taste comes through very nicely, nice rich malty flavor, haven't had any offerings from the style in quite a while, but I'm pretty happy with this one. Very good stuff.
