Double Ghost IPA has two sets of dry hopping at different points in the fermentation process. Citra hops are the main contributor, with Centennial and Chinook in a supporting role, alongside some UK Pilgrim for bittering. This additional cargo of hops and a higher alcohol level allows Adnams brewers to layer additional hop character, which not only creates complexity in this expression, but also adds further nuance to its flavour.
A reckoning for your taste buds, it’s Ghost Ship unleashed. Thunderous Double Ghost IPA is double dry hopped. This whips up a surge of tropical fruit and flashes of pine, white grape and citrus, quickly followed by a crack of rye spice. It’s inspired by the ghost stories surrounding the ships lost to storms in Southwold's Sole Bay.

500ml bottle from Morrisons, Eastbourne. Poured a hazy medium amber colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy, light woody hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, dry, mineral, earthy, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

500ml bottle. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of orange peel/oils, slightly perfumed, sweet malts. Taste is quite citrusy, orange, sweet biscuity malts, a little marmalade, caramel, light piney bitterness which it could do with more of. Light-medium bodied. Surprisingly not too bad, and probably even 'good' considering it's Adnams.
Disappointing to see Adnams resort to misleading names though (this obviously is no DIPA) and why not just use the very common 'DDH' abbreviation? Reckon this would've done really well if they'd brewed it 15 years ago, but these days any old supermarket IPA is going to be better or at least on par with this.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours golden amber with minimal almost white head and good lacing. There’s floral hops and citrus n the aroma. In the mouth it is quite sharp but with a tropical juiciness, and some bitterness becomes evident later. Flavour has tangerine, marmalade and floral hops plus hints of pine and citrus. Finish is slightly dry. This is decent.

Citrusy and light tropical fruity aroma and taste, some grassy and pine notes, peppery and hop spice accents, light herbal hoppy, sweetish malty, soft cask carb mouthfeel, bitter hoppy finish. Good stuff.
