A reckoning for your taste buds, it’s Ghost Ship unleashed. Thunderous Double Ghost IPA is double dry hopped. This whips up a surge of tropical fruit and flashes of pine, white grape and citrus, quickly followed by a crack of rye spice. It’s inspired by the ghost stories surrounding the ships lost to storms in Southwold's Sole Bay.

Bottle at Kessingland chalet picked up from the adnams shop, Southwold. A clear deep orange coloured pour with a lasting fine off white head. Aroma is resinous hop, varnish, light floral notes, caramel notes. Flavour is composed of biscuity malts, dry pine, caramel, flint, floral notes. Light varnish. Palate is semi dry, highish carbonation, light resin. Little thin.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours golden amber with minimal almost white head and good lacing. There’s floral hops and citrus n the aroma. In the mouth it is quite sharp but with a tropical juiciness, and some bitterness becomes evident later. Flavour has tangerine, marmalade and floral hops plus hints of pine and citrus. Finish is slightly dry. This is decent.

Citrusy and light tropical fruity aroma and taste, some grassy and pine notes, peppery and hop spice accents, light herbal hoppy, sweetish malty, soft cask carb mouthfeel, bitter hoppy finish. Good stuff.

[50cl bottle from my local Waitrose.] A bright amber pour with a tight white head; citrusy aroma; some tropical fruit tastes to start then lemony citrus with a good caramel malt body; then a sweet finish with a traditional hoppy bitterness overlaid with some pithy citrus. Very drinkable.

500ml bottle at my parents 90th Birthday celebrations. Clean amber body, off white crust. Citrus bite over the original Ghost Ship bitterness. Decent malt backbone.
