Half pint from the cask at Leicester Indie Beer Festival, Thursday 26 June 2025. Pours a very dark brown with a white head. Aromas & tastes of dark chocolate, berry, chocolate, caramel & hints of rum. Moderate to medium body. Smooth finish.

Cask at the Swan and Railway, Wigan, 16/05/2025.
Black with a good sized lasting tan head ... good lacing ensues.
Nose is light roast, chocolate, spice, rummy tones.
Taste comprises roast malt, chocolate, toffee, rum nip, dried fruit rinds.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close.
Decent.

One-third pint. Deep black body, tiny beige head, upper part lacing on the glass. Creamy malts on the nose. Chocolate malty flavoured, hints of dried fruits. Smoothly roasted malt-fruity finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Satisfying. (Liverpool, 13,02.2025).

Cask at The Wellington. Dark brown with small white top. Notes of liquorice, blackcurrant, dark malts, rum, vanilla and slight woodiness. A slightly cloying mouthfeel. It half works.

Cask at Swan & Railway, Wigan. Pours a considerably dark reddish-brown with a medium sized cream head and good lacing. The mainstay of the aroma is vanilla – plus some hints of alcohol. In the mouth it has roast malts, dark fruits, chocolate and rum. After a while the alcoholic strength becomes evident, along with liquorice. Finish is slightly boozy. This is really nice.

Dark brown with thin head. Aroma and flavour have a lot of caramel sweetness. Milk chocolate too.
