Deep dark brown coloured body with a slightly oily tan head that fades very fast and a touch of a ruby and violet tint when held up to the light. Aroma of alcohol, bourbon, whiskey, scotch, cognac and vanilla with only moderate amounts of roasted malt and pit fruits - there is a severe alcohol and spirit note to this one! Medium to LIGHT-bodied; Strong brett and sour notes at first show up with a lactic flavour and some definite oak, vanilla and bourbon notes, but also a good deal of carbonation, which is surprising, given the head on top and the age. Aftertaste shows more of a sour grape and brett flavour than the alcohol and spirits/oak, but a long complexity and a definite sweetness from caramel and toffee finish this out. Overall, a very interesting beer - not what I was expecting in the slightest bit, and perhaps that’s the best quality of this one. More of a sour or wild ale than anything else and the taste and nose are polar opposites. The body is a bit off here, I wish it had more of a syrupy feel, but this is like a lambic in body - very interesting and very nice to try. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 27-September-2013 for US$13,51 sampled at home on the other coast in Washington on 23-November-2014. Brewed: 23-November-2010, Bottled: 24-January-2013, Purchased: 27-September-2013, Sampled: 23-November-2014, exactly four years after brew date.

22oz bottle thanks to Kate. Pours out a dark brown topped with a tan head. Nose is bourbon, wood, chocolate, and some pit fruit. Nose is the same with a nice malt bill a good bourbon, wood, and some sweetness.

Bomber from Belmont Station. Pours dark brown, with ruddy character against strong light. Slight tan head. Aroma of bourbon, prune and chocolate. Med body. Flavor is bourbon, oak, prune, chocolate. Seems to finish chocolate. There’s a moderate sour aspect from beginning to end. Heat’s not an issue. It’s really quite a drink.
