Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a murky brown color with a hint of orange and a huge foamy orange-beige head that faded and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was boozy caramel and cinnamon. The flavor was sweet caramel, toffee, tart orange, a bit of cinnamon and a fairly boozy presence. Medium length caramel, orange and cinnamon finish. Moderately full bodied. Solid.

On tap at the BNA 8 party at World Cafe Live Philadelphia Pours a deep copper color with a smallish off white head that quickly dissipates to a cap on top. Smells of caramel and toffee with hints of dark fruits and an earthy mineraly nose. The flavor is sweet with lots of dark and burnt sugars and fruity maltiness. Light earthy hop flavor tries in vain to cut through the sweetness. Medium to thick body with a sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel and a light level of carbonation. Decent beer, but a bit big and sweet for my taste.

A lightly hazed dark amber with a very thin light mochta head. In aroma, smooth vinous malt with light licorice, not baf. In mouth, a sweet bourbon like offering with caramel, treacle, licorice, grassy British hopsand warming alcohol, not bad.

Tap at West Coast Brew Fest 2013. Pours ruddy copper. Aroma is rather barleywine. Med + body. There’s a lot of hop, but the oak escaped me. So much hop the malt is barely noticeable. It’s very hoppy, finishing very tasty.

Draft at Beer Run. Pours a dark brown color with a thin creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Weak toffee-ish aroma. The taste is toffee malts, mild berry notes and faint resin hops. Medium bodied. No clue this was barrel aged.

On tap at the brewpub pouring hazy amber with copper hues and off white head. The aroma is modest in strength providing a pleasing combination of malts, grains and malt roastiness. The taste is far more adventurous than the nose with robust notes of caramel malts and malt roastiness. By midway the hops surface with floral and spicy bitterness. Into the finish a tasty malt induced dark fruitiness and grainy to roasty malt dryness close off the experience.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown, slightly unclear with a small tan head. Aroma is dark toffee malt with a nice fruity hops note. Bitter and sweet caramelish flavoured. Smooth malt mouthfeel and with a nice drying bitterness following into the finish.
