Take me home, dal Veneto “para casa”, l’ultima birra della serata, quella che si beve prima di andare a casa.Densa e oleosa, con note di caffè e cioccolato ed una delicato amaro tostato finale.

Sample, thanks fonefan! Near black no head. Almost perfumy nose with dates and tropical blossom. Really sweet with full body and well rounded mouthfeel. The sweetness is not the syrupy kind, and there is no hint of cakeyness. Instead it is more raw sugar lending it an interesting array of flavours. There is a hint of chocolate, some figs and hibiscus. More like an old English barley wine (think J.W. Lees) than an imperial stout. Warming finish with some bitterness. Complex. Pleasant.

Thanks fonefan! Pitch black colour with an ok beigeish brown head. Aroma is chocolate syrup, some coffee, mild vanilla with plum and some dried sweet dark berries too. Flavour is sweet chocolate syrup with mild alcohol sweetness, some nutty and dried figgy tones as well as some slight muscot and cardamom elements. Long chocolaty and coffeeish sugary aftertaste. Very nice in most ways, but ending this sweet kind of ruins a bunch of the drinkability/sippability. One to enjoy for 2-3 hours. Not for speedrating... Rating given for enjoyable time and sipability, not tickability. In other words: when getting this, make sure you sip it over a long time. Not for fast drinking.

375ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, small, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Relatively weak, condensed, roasty, chocolately, minimally ashy-smoky, dark and caramel malty aroma, minimally yeasty fruity, woody and spicy overtones, hints of coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, some treacle, a touch of bramble, dark caramel, mustard seed. Taste is sweet-ish, caramel malty and chocolately, dark malty, minimally yeasty fruity, notes of dark chocolate, couverture, chocolate sauce, some treacle, a touch of bramble, raspberry, caramel sauce; ashy and metallic interludes.
OIly to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, medium to fine, soft carbonation.
Not overly complex, relatively easy drinkable - not the kind of sipper that invites to meditate over the unfathomable diversity of subtle flavours.

Bottle shared at the CBJ tasting, picked up from an online peddler whom I can't recall, 12/06/24. Black topped with a khaki head. Nose is chocolate, roast malts, spice, charr, molasses. Taste comprises toffee, dried fruit rinds, chocolate, dates, molasses. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with a light boost. Okay sipper.

Bottle shared in London - cheers to Cloin. Pours clear deep brown with a small, creamy tan head. Medium sweet flavour, some meaty malts, a little smoke, caramel. Full bodied, oily and chewy with fine carbonation. Sweet, sugary finish. So so.
