The nights are drawing in and the inky black skies are softly illuminated by the glowing ambers of a roaring wood fire. This dark and robust Porter is both smooth and complex with notes of dark chocolate and coffee, layered with the subtle smokey flavour of beechwood smoked malt.

Can from brewery on 9th April 2022. Pours deep ruby sepia with shallow tan ring-and-film affording spot lacing. Solid, rich roastiness in aroma. Roasty malts in-mouth with delicate woodsmoke. Orchard fruits transient, and a roasty finish. Medium bodied with a zingy mouthfeel. Superb.

Can from the Black Toad. Appearance - deep brown to black. Beige head. Nose - wood smoke, tar, blackberry, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste - dark chocolate, coffee and tar. Burning wood. Palate - medium bodied despite low ABV, smoky dry finish. Overall - complex and rich despite the low ABV.
