Deep, almost brown and copper coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying pure white head that leaves a small layer on top, but the deepness in colour is striking. Aroma of blueberries (of course), oats, light cereal, a touch of vanilla and a lot of allspice, cloves and a ton of cooked oatmeal notes - perhaps stronger than the blueberries, somehow with a light breadiness. Light to Medium-bodied; Very strong blueberry notes dominate with some oats and grain, but the bready, yeastie quality dominates along with the oatmeal, but the blueberries and surprisingly strong spice notes are very nice and add to the complexity and deepness of this one in a non-summer, non-wheatie way. Aftertaste shows the sweetness at first with a nice spice quality, some cloves, allspice and a dash of wheat (seemingly smoked for a tiny bit) wiht a dry wheatie note and a dose of blueberry fruitiness ends this out nicely. Overall, a very nice and pungent, super complex and flavourful wheatie ale with a lot of spices, a good deal of blueberries but a ton of oatmeal really shows through - a nice option for this type of beer and even better for the summertime! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Trader Joe's in Springfield, Virginia on 06-July-2021 for US$3,50 sampled in my house here in Washington on 25-July-2021.
