Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, coffee, dark malt. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark malt, roasted, coffee, sharp. Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at the Lab. Opens with a hiss. Very flow gusher. Pours black-brown with a billowing, foamy beige head. Burnt grains in the nose, some ashy roast, cocoa, day-old coffee. Light sweet flavour with further ashy roast, scorched earth, woody dryness, tobacco, some dried berries. Light bodied with quite active carbonation. A little drying in the finish, with ever-so-slightly metallic notes, more dried berries, ash, baking cocoa. A little scattered but just about OK.
