A Macchiato Porter using Takk NorthProjekt v.7 coffee and a dash of lactose. The espresso profile beans lend a subtle hit of sweet caramel and honeydew on the nose whilst adding a rich depth to the complex cacao malt base. This is a farewell brew from a long serving brewer, Jonny Read, ahead of his move to Sweden.

Tap at Thomas St Ale House, Manchester Nose has a mix of strong black coffee and cream. Pours black with a strong cream head. In the mouth it is COLD ! Oops, served too cold. What I managed to make out was coffee, molasses and roast malt. Carbonation seems light until you start to swill it in your mouth, when it froths up tremendously. Finish is like someone has poured coffee grounds all over your mouth. Not bad, but would have enjoyed it more if I had been able to taste it !

Can. Brown with a cm of head that lightens from beige to cream. Fresh coffee aroma with hard sweet biscuit, singed cream. Something about it that makes it seem much more appealing than that description. Perhaps a slight fruitiness. Fairly sweet with lots of coffee sweetened by evaporated milk. There's only a little bitterness. One of those beers where you can't quite work out why you like it (although macchiato is my default coffee) - I think it's the lightness and cleanness of the palate for the depth of malt, but I really don't know and it's almost gone.

Dark red-brown beer with a lively, off-white head. Big, dominant coffee aroma. A hefty whack of coffee in the flavour too, along with some bitter chocolate, a little fruit and some toasty malt. There's a slightly watery aftertaste but a big, dry finish means that doesn't spoil it. Just a solid coffee porter.

Half pint, keg at Piccadilly Tap. Creamy fawn coloured head leaving clingy lacing on the glass. Deep rosewood coloured body. Inviting roasted malts on the nose, hints of coffee. Mixed taste of cocoa powder and coffee backed by dark fruits. Ends with roasted malts. Nice. (Manchester 05.02.2019).

Can 330ml (BGz)
Dark brown colour, small beige head. Aroma of burnt cookies, cacao powder and chocolate. Light to medium-bodied. Toasted flavour with cocoa powder, nuttyness, old coffee, chocolate and honey. Watery finish. Way too low ABV for this kind of porter.
