Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours reddish-copper with small beige head. Aroma is off caramel malt, medium carbonation, good lacing, and medium/heavy body. Taste is toasty grassy caramel malt with a bitter finish. Not that good.

12 ounce bottle from Barley & Hops Brewpub in Frederick, MD. Weird that I bought a sixer of one brewery’s beers at another, but the bartender said they are "sister breweries." OK, cool. Pours a clear deep copper color with a medium sized tan head. Good head retention and decent lacing. Aroma of toasted malts, caramel, nutty notes, faint hops and even fainter chocolate. The taste is tart malty notes, dry caramel notes, berry like fruits. Medium bodied. Smells nice, taste I’m not so sure about. Decent, though.

12oz bottle. Deep brown-amber, looks filtered. Soapy off-white head. Mellow chocolate and amber malt aroma. Not much going on hopwise, some faint soapy bitterness, rather malt centered. A pretty solid Alt, very sessionable. A touch watery, but rather true to style.

Deep brown coloured in body with a cola and ruby glow when held upto the light. Thin tan head that dies quickly and a few bubbles rise from the bottom. Aroma of nuts, raisins, light soap and a touch of fruits coupled with malt. Light-bodied; Very effervescent and airy tasting with mostly malt, some raisins and nutmeg and a little grapiness. Aftertaste shows some nuts, concord grapes, subtle sweetness and a tiny bit of cardboardie/soapy flavours. Overall, not such a great beer, and pretty passable, unless you enjoy lighter brown ales. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 25-May-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 02-July-2010.
