Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a light orange with small white head that dissapates quickly. Aroma is spicy pine, nice carbonation, good lacing. Taste is grainy malt and spicy (piney) herbal hops and finishes a little dry. Too much hop flavor to be an English Pale Ale should be American Pale Ale.

Bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Pours amber with a one finger head. Decent retention and lacing. Fairly nicely balanced aroma. Assertive hops in the taste... pine. Bitter, slightly nutty, vegetal and earthy. Not really any sweetness to speak of.

Bottle. Pours a light amber. Aroma is a little citrus with some bitter hop aroma. Great hop finish and quite refreshing.

On tap at the brewery on 05/09/2009. Slightly hazy amber body with a large frothy off-white head. Big floral hop aroma with some light perfumy notes. Floral and perfumy hop flavor with a pale malt background. Medium full body with moderate carbonation. 7/3/7/3/14 - 3.4 03/30/2006: Clear amber color with a thin white head. Mild malt and floral hops aroma. Sweet floral hops flavor. 7/3/7/3/14 - 3.4

Hazy amber coloured body with a nice sized frothy off-white head. Aroma of english hops, cardboard, malt, toffee and a small amount of grapefruit. Medium-bodied; Mild hop flavour with hardly any malt backbone. Spicey grapefruityness with some toffee flavours run deep. Aftertaste is fairly bland-no complexity and not much else going on. Overall, a decent pale. I think mine was well past its prime-but with all my other beer, it was a hard one to finally drink! Try it fresh-I will too, but expect a decent pale, nothing amazing. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 05-September-2004.

Appearance is nice; deep golden, with maybe sligth hints of amber. Nice, fluffy head, receeds after a short while, but leaves just enough. Smell is hoppy, slightly citrusy, definitely reminding me of an IPA. Taste is nice and crisp- there are definite citrus (cascade) hops in there, making this beer thoroughly enjoyable. I wish I would have brought some of Starr Hill’s beers home with me. I tried two on my trip to C-Ville, and enjoyed them both. Oh well, next time.

This is better as an APA than an IPA in my book. But as an APA, it's a decent drinking beer. The peviously posted reviews may suggest that this brew may be incocnsistent. Mine was a slightly thin, but decent APA. Well balanced. Not bad, just not outstanding.
