Sample at the downtown brewpub. Brownish-black color with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Light to medium body with a roasty coffee and malt character, with some chocolate in the back. The finish is sweet with a short roasted malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap at GD downtown. Unfiltered brown-black with a thick, creamy, beige head. Roasty chocolate aroma. Nitro pour, way mellow, smooth and sessionable. Somewhat watery, but a pretty decent Guinness-like stout.

On tap at the downtown Madison location. Charcoal brown-black body, thick light head (nitro). Light roasty aroma. Rather basic body dominated by roasted malts and unsweetened chocolate. Smooth and creamy, lacking the acidity and astringency that plague many dry stouts. Average.
