Saison brewed with with spices, chocolate and cocoa nibs. This bronze colored Saison starts off with aromas of lemongrass and citrus. Spicy pepper and a slightly nutty finish round out the nose. These aromas carry into the flavor with lots of citrus, lemongrass and spicy aromas up front. Its initial sweetness on the tongue quickly fades to dryness and finishes with a slightly nutty, dark chocolate flavor. Alcohol and a moderate bitterness also reveal themselves in the finish of this complex beer.

Tipsy Cow, pre GTMW madness. 5.50 for a BS pour. Hazy orange tan, thin oily head. This is "different" not unlike an odd DFH creation, but this one completely fails. Spicy brown malt tones, a bit of chocolate. Burning cacao action, just doesn’t pull it off. A pinch above amateur hour. Balanced in an awkward way. Tolerable maybe.

Served on draft at the Tipsy Cow in Madison, WI at the GTMW pre-party. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a thin creamy offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of butter notes, chocolate, mint and a bit of booze. The taste is bitter hops, bread, chocolate and sweet malts. Medium bodied.

On tap at MBGSF 2011. Pours a clear golden light amber. Aroma is dominated by clove- and bubble gum-like yeast. Flavor is again quite yeasty, clove and bubble gum, balanced by a nutty flavor and cocoa. Just too many yeasty flavors, really. Still pretty nice.
