Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a deep dark body that supports a thin dark tan head. The aroma offers up chocolate malt balls, dark roasted malts, chocolate malts and a thin layer of burnt malts. The taste delivers chocolate malts, some dark roasted maltiness and then thin malt sweetened shards of bunt malts. It picks up a bit of sweet black licorice to sort of a cola sensation from time to time. The chocolate and dark roastiness run from front to back. Pretty nice.

Sampler, from 2001 notes. Pretty decent. I gave it points for also smelling like a creamy oatmeal stout, on top of a Guinness-y head. Nice and malty, meaning little hop activity going on.
