Deep dark copper and light bronze coloured body with a very thin, single centimetre tall off-white head that fades quickly. Aroma of grass, light bread, yeast, a dash of coriander seed, but a lot of caramelised sugars and toffee that is completely unlike a saison. Medium-bodied; Strong rich sticky malts that show more of an Alt (lager) than a saison with a big touch fo caramelised sugars and toffee/grain that shows through and leaves the back end sweet and showing a touch of spices and apple flavours more than any grass notes. Aftertaste is fairly rich and malt-centric, with more of the profile derived from sugars than anything else along with some yeast punch towards the end. Overall, a strong, but very enjoyable beer that again shows much less of a saison or even grisette than it does as an Altbier or even Bock, which are yes, both lagers. There is some sugar and spices coming through at thel end, but also some alcohol and grain. I sampled this sixteen ounce pour on draught at Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 05-November-2019 for US$5,00.

Draught at the source: pours deep gold with white head. Aroma is light hay and yeast, but a pretty faint aroma generally. Taste is much more fruity and spicy than the aroma which is subdued.
