Coalescence is inspired by Belgian farmhouse ales. Rustic and dry beers that have been brewed in the Wallonian countryside for generations. Our take on the style is brewed with spelt malt for a wheaty nuttiness and lightly spiced to add extra aromatic dimensions and complexity.

Bottle from Inn At Home, Guildford. Spiced citrus aroma. Bright gold. Lively - massive thick head develops. Initial a low key sweetness with a malty edge. Juicy. A bitter end. The grains and spices makes themselves known. Medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Dry finish which could do with a notch less spice. At first it does seem first quenching but that finish unbalances proceedings. But decent enough.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Clapton Craft. Pours perfectly clear yellow-gold with a frothy, white head. Lots of herbs in the nose, some spicy yeast, crispy wheat flakes, lemon zest. Light sweet flavour with moderate grassy bitterness, pale grains, more herbs kites, hay, citrus peel. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Somewhat drying in the finish, with more grassy hops, dried herbs, lemon peel, straw. A bit too herbal for my liking, but it does come together fairly well. Not bad overall.
