All of our Vintage Ales are very special beers. We've created a new recipe every year since 1997, picking the best ingredients at the time, to make a strong beer with a complex character. This version is brewed with Pilot, CF299 & Target hops and Pale Ale & Extra Dark Crystal malts.

Bottle: Poured a deep copper color ale with a medium size off-white foamy had with good retention and with some lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with some weird juicy hops. Taste i also a mix of Fullers great caramelized malt base with some juicy type hops that don't fit well with the malt bill. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable but I don't get the hops versus malt bill balance.

Bottle number 058163 thanks to allmyvinyl.
Appearance - clear deep amber to copper red with a fluffy beige head.
Nose - chocolate limes and burnt toffee. Some boozy wood.
Taste - lime, chocolate, then caramel, honeycomb and bitter orange.
Palate - medium bodied at most, really complex with unexpected citrus note.
Overall - a beer of individual personality. I wish I'd picked up a dozen so I could try one a year, as it is bound to change a bit.

0.5 l bottle from 'Craftbeershop.com', 2024 vintage, best before December 2027. A bit hazy, ruby with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity, minimally resiny aroma of marmalade, orange peel, some black tea and hints of tobacco. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity and a bit resiny taste of marmalade, orange peel, black tea, tobacco and hints of bramble, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, slightly dry and minimally boozy finish. Medium to full body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very solid variant, nicely fruity and resiny, not sticky or saturating.

500ml bottle from Waitrose - deep mahogany body with a firm off white head. Molasses, dates, malty cake fruit, lots of malt loaf, nice bit of booze warmth. Not sure how different it is to others in this one, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle picked up from Waitrose. Consumed at home Sunday 2nd March 2025 after a 14-15 km loop hike in glorious sunshine to two local hills Plattnstoa 864m & Fürberg 880m then to our local Gasthof zum Sonnewald, Schöfweg for a beer. We had a Thomasina Miers Chilli tonight for tea, it was fantastic. Pours chestnut maybe lighter, there is a rubyness to this, the head disappeared swiftly, sticks to the side. Initially a little sweet, but after 5-10 mins in the glass it opens up, it’s actually quite tangy, there’s some marmalade, a little molasses, it’s a very decent Vintage but I think it needs to soften and mellow a little more, a couple of years in the bottle and I’d be interested to try it again, I purchased two further bottles. ,
