All of our Vintage Ales are very special beers. We've created a new recipe every year since 1997, picking the best ingredients at the time, to make a strong beer with a complex character. This version is brewed with Pilot, CF299 & Target hops and Pale Ale & Extra Dark Crystal malts.

Dark copper, medium off white head. Super malty, sherry notes, hardly any hops, low bitterness. It's not old but it tastes old? New brew but it tastes oxidized? This is not great, and these have gone down hill significantly in the past few years.

0,5l bottle from Waitrose & Partners, 1 Wharf Road, London N1C 4BZ, United Kingdom.
F: medium, tan, good retention.
C: dark coppery, hazy.
A: malty, toast, citrus, biscuits, red berries, toffee, vanilla, spicy.
T: full malty base, biscuits, caramel, toast, toffee, bit berries, dried fruits, spicy, marmalade, raisins, decent bitterness to balance the malty base out, medium carbonation, for 6£ not bad at all, fully enjoyed as my last beer on RateBeer.

25/1/2025. Bottle at the ITFC vintage and rare Saturday share part 1. From Fuller’s online store courtesy of ITFCDan. Bottle #065765. Pours clear dark amber/mid-brown with a foamy off-white head. Aroma started with a soapy burst, which faded, and aroma improved. Orange rind, toffee, lightly woody, sherry, citrus, spice. Soapiness returned. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Moderate body, quite smooth, average carbonation. A bit underwhelming. Have another bottle to mature. Hope it will improve with age.

500 ml bottle in cardboard box, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8.4%. Beautiful clear chestnut colour, large to moderate off-white to beige head. Aroma of dark dried fruits (particularly figs and raisins), also toffee, fruit cake and caramel. Medium sweet flavour with the same elements, moderate bitterness. Delicious.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Waitrose on Oxford Street. Pours a fetching clear copper-ruby with a frothy, light khaki topping. Medium sweet flavour with lovely semi-ripe and stewed fruits, berries, toffee, bready malts, a nip of butterscotch, faint leafy bitterness. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation toon. Balanced finish, minimal booze to bite, more berries, lightly toasted malts, rich bready-toffee character. Excellent. My final Fuller’s Vintage rating on RB and it’s a great one.

Sweet and toasted malty with layers of sweet caramel and toffee, fudge, dried fruit shred and a little marmalade like citrus rind, hoppy backing bringing some nice peachy notes, medium body, lightly spiced lingering malty finish. Great vintage this year. --- Beer merged from original tick of Vintage Ale (2024) on 26 Mar 2025 at 12:24 - Score: 8.
