330ml bottle. Almost black colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Vinous, slightly woody and tannic aroma, hints of red wine, a touch of oak, the basic Barley Wine is widely disguised and delivers not more than an impression of unspecific maltiness. Taste is slightly vinous fruity and minimally sweet malty with cautious aspects of caramel and almond, hints of red wine, blue grapes, a touch of cherry, morello, grape sugar, a cautious woody, oaky, minimally tart-ish, tannic touch. Slightly viscous texture, smooth and soft palate, very fine, gentle, soft carbonation. Harmonious and balanced, well hidden alcohol - not bad.

Zunehmend süßer Malzbeginn. Wenig Karamell, dunkles Malz, Kaffee, geringe Säure. Weich holzig, vollmundig. Cremig malzig, intensiv bleibend, niemals alkoholisch, die Säure schwindet. Zum Ende Noten von Beeren, langer Nachhall. 10/8/9/9/12/9

Deep ruby brown colour, small frothy tan head, mostly diminishing, light lacing. Rich aroma, roasted malts, dark red fruits, cocoa, fortified wine, licorice, molasses, balsamico, woody notes. Taste light heavy sweet, light bitter and a hint of acidity, malty, fruity, syrupy, alcohol, spicy and woody notes. Round sweetbitter aftertaste, molasses, woody notes, full-bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation. Rich and round brew, quite elegant and perhaps a bit too boozy...

Bottle in Hamburg. Intense malty full and not too sweetish body. Not much bitterness, caramelly hops, round and smooth in the end. Lots of chocolate there, hints of sweetish espresso and milk-chocolate. Very thick and rich, long and intense chocolate in the aftertaste. Gerat!
