Can from the brewery. Pours a murky dark brown with a large beige head. Aroma is sharp brown sugar, and pine resin with some caramels, and green hop cones. This is so weird for the senses. They really blended the bready, caramel notes of a dubbel so well with the green, piney IPA notes. Both are distinct, but they blend surprisingly well together. Medium to high bitterness, slightly astringent near the end. Very interesting.

Bottle: Poured a clear brown/copper color ale with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt with some light candi sugar notes and some earthy hops notes is quite pleasant. Taste is also a good mix of caramelized malt notes with some light candi sugar notes and earthy hops with a dry finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable but closer to a dubbel due to age of the bottle.

Smells hoppy and citrusy. Tastes like a Belgian IPA, somewhere between a good double IPA and a belgian. It’s got some fruit, good lacing. It leans more on the IPA side than the Belgian though. Pours an amber red. On tap at barVolo., 6/29/2012 2:10:09 PM, Canada, Quebec, Baie-Saint-Paul, IPA - Belgian / Saison
