12 oz. bottle from the Beer Geek (black cap). Red tinged amber color with almost no head. Interesting aroma that resembles cola, or roasted caramel. Good smell; a bit vinous. Medium body with mild creamy carbonation. Flavor is malt, fruit, treacle, and a hint of coffee? Finish is neither dry nor sweet. The residual is reminiscent of a molasses flavored hard candy, but not all that sugary. Really pretty good drink.

Bottle. Body is the color of darkly stained walnut, but lets a bit of light in around the edges. About one and a half fingers of head. Aromas are of dark fruit, brown sugar and coffee grounds. Flavor is a slight variation on these flavors. Center stage is held by the dark chocolate flavor of roasted malt, but is butressed by molasses and dark fruit. Mouthfeel is slightly watery but there is enough alcohol that it is detectable.

Black cap. Murky orange-brown body, medium tight buff head. Dense chocolate aroma with toast and caramel notes. Robust body, with milk chocolate, sweet dark fruits, bitter tannins, and a long, chewy, bitter finish. The sweetness builds after a few sips and has a Grape Dimetapp characteristic. Overall a bit rough and heavy.
