We hear it all the time: brown ales equal BORING...but does that mean double brown ales are double boring? Meet "Cinématographe", an Imperial brown ale brewed with 100% Connecticut Grown Ingredients and a decadent amount of Fatstone Farm's maple syrup, aged for a year and a half in a freshly dumped maple syrup barrel that first held Heaven Hill Bourbon (with a few hard maple staves thrown in for extra woody goodness).

Since our single brown ale series is named for early forms of photography, it seemed only fitting that this 10% treat be named after the first motion-picture apparatus, invented by the Lumière Brothers in 1895. Plus, with this only being our second barrel aged release, we're more excited to share it with you than if we were making our debut on the silver screen! Sweet maple notes backed by a luxurious mouthfeel and rich malty undertones make this the perfect sipper for a crisp night, preferably in front of a smoldering fire, and perhaps with a classic film like "Casablanca" or "It Happened To Jane" flickering in the background.

750 ml bottle. #3 / 200. Aroma bourbon, vanilla, oak and mild caramel. Flavor shows lasting bourbon with prune, toffee and oak. Maple is very light and plays second fiddle to all the other flavor. No alcohol flavor or harsh warming after the sip. This beer is quite lovely!

Bottle pour shared by AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! It's a hazy light brown-ruby with light sparkle, mild viscosity, ephemeral ring of beige head and no lacing. Aroma is strong bourbon, wood, spice, dark fruit over milder sweet malts. Taste is strong bourbon, wood, spice, dark fruit, sweet malt and faint maple (more prevalent as it warms). Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, no alcohol harshness, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, decent complexity and balance but not getting a ton of maple--the star of the show! Bourbon a bit overpowering.
