Tap at Big Hand Alehouse, Chester There’s coffee and chocolate in the nose of this one, together with underlying maltiness. Pours a very dark brown with a small beige head. Sharp tasting with medium carbonation. Liquorice and candyfloss attempt to compete with the dominant chocolate flavoure in the mouth. Finish is bitter chocolate grounds. A nice stout all round.

Cask @ JDW Montgomery's Tower. Pours dark, small beige head. Roast and liquorice on the nose. Taste has a light chewy sweetness alongside some roast, chocolate, light liquorice. Drying close. Decent.

[ As Big Hand Spectre ]. ABV: 4.5%. Unclear dark brown colour with a average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, chocolate - espresso, dark malt. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light moderate bitter with a long duration, ash, burnt, roasted, dark malt, roasted - espresso, sweet malt. Cask at the Queens Head, Wordsley. Pours black with a small head. Aroma is sweet roast and a little liquorice. Taste has roast to start and a roast coffee finish.
