Overtravel focuses on a new hop variety - HBC 692. It originates from the Hop Breeding Company and is in its infancy. We were fortunate to get to try some great beers at hop harvest this past year using this hop and knew we wanted to brew with it. Unique pink grapefruit, rosewood, and orange rind like flavors and aromas are some if its characteristics.

Can from tfontana, thanks again. Hazy lemony yellow with a huge frothy white head that slowly recedes. Citrus lemon and tropical fruits with some bready sweetness and a bit of sweet sugar.

16 oz. can in a trade with tfontana. Thanks big pimp! Aroma is pineapple and lemon. Flavor shows a good amount of fruit with table sugar. Strong floral hint in the finish that collides with the lemon. Sorry Counterweight, this is not a hop combo I can get excited for.

Can (10/29/20) pour from the brewery. Appearance is opaque dark yellow-light brown with no sparkle, finger-width off-white foamy head with fair retention and light soapy lacing. Aroma is strong citrus candy (lemon/orange mix), pink grapefruit. Both are a little too strong and have a synthetic sense to them, like a Starburst candy or an incense stick (reminds me of those shops with metallic dragon and wizard figurines displayed on black velvet, tapestries, black posters, marijuana paraphernalia in a glass case in the back, '70's music playing, etc.--if you were there, you know exactly what I'm talking about). Taste is REALLY strong pink grapefruit, bubble gum, synthetic lemony-orange citrus, along with metallic/pineapple/coconut component. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with thick, frothy texture, soft-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, very strong aroma and flavor with complexity but a synthetic quality to the pink grapefruit/citrus/bubble gum triumvirate and the pineapple/coconut/metallic triumvirate says HBC 692 has promise but needs to be reined in.
