Same genus, different species. Giant Sequoia DIPA branched off of our Coastal Redwood to become a broader, bolder breed. Two Yakima valley staples, Citra and Mosaic, are front and center in this well rounded colossus. A fruit forward New England ale with western roots delivering a crisp, smooth finish reminiscent of a Pacific Coast session.

Can pour from the brewery. Appearance is cloudy dark yellow-light brown with lots of dark floaties, light sparkle, 2-finger width foamy white head with excellent retention and decent soapy lacing. Aroma is strong citrus and evergreen, mildly musty. Taste follows aroma with strong fruit, milder pine/spruce; slightly musty. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with thick texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste with only mild lingering bitterness. Overall, I wish the spruce had been higher in the mix. Still, a lot to like otherwise.

Can from tfontana, thanks again. Lightly hazy with the faintest of gold color and a good sized bubbly white head that persists. Grapefruit and hints of pine with sweet bread earth and faint alcohol to round this out. Easy to drink, but not horribly complex.

16 oz. can in a trade with tfontana, thanks Tom! Aroma shows me sweet malt and pine. Flavor is surprisingly light. Spruce, light tropical fruit notes, with the alcohol is hidden. Drinks easy enough even tho light.
