Our tribute to David Ortiz and all he has done for Boston sports. An assault of dark chocolate, burnt caramel and dark fruit with a gentle and sweet malt backbone.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to becher glass.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a finger's worth of off white foamy head which slid off to leave some light lace
Aroma: milk and dark chocolates blending with some dark fruits, light coffee and a light caramel tone underneath
Flavor: sweet and a touch of roastiness throughout meshing the prior noted aromas together; mild aftertaste of milk chocolate, dark chocolate and dark fruits
Texture: medium bodied, some sessionability; fairly smooth along the tongue; finishes roasty and sweet through some coffee and dark fruits
Overall: nicely done porter I could come back to.

Pours mahogany-tinged black into an English pint. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Chocolate, soy and licorice aromas. Dry with hot chocolate, raisin and fig front to back. Lasting mocha finish.

16 oz. can. Received in a trade with tfontana. Thanks big pimp! Dominating, rich chocolate flavor with moderate roasted malt, coffee and some soft earthy hints. Bolder body for a porter with a nice texture. Well-made, above average.

Dark brown/black in color with a small bubbly tan head that shows fair retention. Rich dark chocolate and earthy roast with hints of earthy hops and faint licorice and char. Pretty solid robust porter.

Can (9/30/20) pour from Total Wine & More, Burlington. Appearance is opaque black with no sparkle, finger-width beige-light brown foamy head with decent retention and no lacing. Aroma is nice roasted malt, milder caramel. Taste is roasted malt, bordering on burnt, caramel, hint of licorice and chocolate. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, silky texture, soft carbonation and roasted bitter finish. Overall, chocolate is more muted than advertised; not getting dark fruit. Still, pretty good.
